Learn our story, leadership, and mission shaping manufacturing in Mexico.
When you operate on a Tetakawi Manufacturing Campus, your plant runs inside Tetakawi’s Mexican shelter entity, already registered and filing. Its accounting, income tax and VAT claims are filed by Tetakawi’s fiscal team, and when the tax authority has a question, it asks us.
The Problem
In Mexico, knowing the tax rules is not the hard part. Filing to an authority that checks every record against every other is, because every invoice, payroll receipt and customs entry is digital, stamped when it is issued, and read against the next.
Mexico’s tax system is almost entirely digital. Every invoice and payroll receipt is stamped by the authority when it is issued, then matched against what you file, line by line, every month.
Mexico’s export-manufacturing regime, IMMEX, has its own rules on import VAT, exports and deductions. An accountant learning them on the job makes honest mistakes, and honest mistakes become assessments.
VAT is charged on most of what you buy here and comes back only after a claim is filed and reviewed. The money is real, the delay is real, and the calendar belongs to the authority, not to you.
Our Solution
Your plant runs inside Tetakawi’s Mexican shelter entity. Our fiscal team keeps that entity’s books, files its accounting, income tax and VAT claims, and answers the tax authority. You control production, process and quality, and keep your own tax advisors.
We file the entity’s electronic accounting with SAT, Mexico’s tax authority, each month. SAT reads that trial balance against every invoice and payroll receipt it already stamped, so the work is keeping our record and SAT’s identical. Your company holds a Mexican tax ID, which we obtain and administer for you, without forming a Mexican company. Your corporate books stay yours; we do not keep them or produce your financial statements.
We calculate the monthly income tax on your Mexican operation from the information you provide, send you the estimate, invoice it, file it and pay it to SAT on your behalf. At year end we reconcile the monthly payments against the annual return and file that too. The annual determination is your advisors’ judgment, and we give no tax advice.
We build each refund claim from the record: the period’s vendor invoices, payments and customs declarations, matched line by line. We file it, follow it in SAT’s system, answer each request that comes back, and report what was recovered. What SAT returns, and when, is SAT’s decision. Recovery timing and success are subject to SAT.
Two things on file release a payment to a vendor: your approval under the delegation of authority your corporate office issues, and your confirmation that the goods or the service arrived. We then pay from Tetakawi’s accounts, and the expense is yours with the receipts behind it, so your plant holds no cash in Mexico and opens no Mexican bank account.
A fiscal audit of the entity is the shelter’s audit. It lands on Tetakawi, and our team answers it and follows it through with the authority without pulling your people into it. The entity’s filings are also reviewed by independent national accounting firms. A penalty arising from your data, your process or your materials is your cost; a filing we got wrong is ours to correct.
Benefits
The entity’s books, filings and payments sit in one record on your Campus, matched against SAT’s. You see what was filed, what was paid and what came back.
Onboarding
Your fiscal setup is one workstream in the single launch plan your Tetakawi project lead runs. The fiscal team on the Campus obtains your Mexican tax ID and loads your operation into the systems it files from. Your own advisors stay in the room.
You send us your registration documents, your delegation-of-authority matrix and your own chart of account codes.
We register your company with SAT for its Mexican tax ID, then load your operation into the systems we file from.
We meet your team in person, walk through each of the monthly processes and agree who approves what, and by when.
We close the entity books, file the claims, send you the monthly statement and flag anything outside your matrix.

FAQs
The questions we get most often from manufacturers looking at Mexico.
We file for the shelter entity your plant runs inside. Your books and your tax position stay yours.
Tetakawi’s fiscal team files the entity’s monthly accounting with SAT, Mexico’s tax authority, files and pays the monthly income tax on your Mexican operation, which is your cost, and files the VAT refund claims. Your corporate books, your financial statements and your tax position stay with your own accountants and advisors. We give no tax advice.
No bank account. Yes, a tax ID, which we obtain and administer for you.
Your company holds a Mexican tax ID without forming a Mexican company. Payments to vendors go out from Tetakawi’s accounts once you approve them, under the delegation of authority your corporate office sets, and the expense is yours with the receipts behind it. Your plant holds no cash in Mexico.

Weekly, with the receipts behind it. The tax picture monthly and annually.
Every week you see the hours worked and the costs paid on your behalf, with the receipts behind them, and your on-site representative approves the Mexican costs before they are billed. Every month you see the taxes filed and paid under your Mexican tax ID, and once a year the annual return reconciled against them.

Four steps, in order.
1. Get in touch. A conversation about what you are hoping to achieve in Mexico, and why now.
2. Measure ROI. We build the business case with you: the full cost of running your operation on a Campus, the risks and the trade-offs, and which Campus fits.
3. Site visit. Walk the Campus, meet the people who would run your account, talk with manufacturers already operating there, and meet the fiscal team that would file for you.
4. Launch and grow. When you give the green light, the same team that helped you build the case guides the launch.
